Boxyard RTP Residency
February 18 - May 7, 2022
Pop Box Gallery debuted at Boxyard RTP in February 2022. For three months, we transformed a shipping container into an art gallery and presented rotating exhibits of visual art by Triangle-based artists.
Pop Box Gallery is honored to be a recipient of Boxyard RTP’s first annual micro-grant from NC IDEA and the Research Triangle Foundation, designed to propel women and BIPOC-owned businesses back into the market amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. We are also grateful Triangle Community Foundation’s Responsive Grantmaking program for their vital support and to our fiscal sponsor, VAE Raleigh.

Exhibits
Why do we prototype? To validate and/or communicate an idea. To advocate. But also to unlock creativity.
With the PROTOTYPE exhibition, Pop Box Gallery challenged Triangle area artists to do all those things with each of the artists beginning with the same form - a pentaprism.
Exhibition Zine.
Folded Poetry features designs, sculptures, and acoustical art pieces by Eliza Redmann (she/her). Inspired by visual disturbances caused by a traumatic brain injury and informed by her training as an architect, Eliza’s geometric work combines beauty and function through a creative healing process.
Maroon Archive is a living library holding the stories of life and movement across the black diaspora, past and present. Featuring Aliyah Bonnette, Ambrose Rhapsody Murray, and Kennedi Carter. Curated by Marcella Zigbuo Camara. Exhibition Zine.
Portrait Mode responds to two years of mediated interactions through screens, behind masks, in isolation, and at a distance through the work of twelve Triangle-based artists. The exhibition offers a window into new perspectives on ourselves and each other.
Events
Join us for the final day of Maroon Archive for a free zine-making workshop with local artists. Some materials will be provided but you’re welcome to bring your own magazines, tools (staplers, scissors, glue, tape, string), and other print materials to incorporate. For artists of all ages. Free.

Join Pop Box Gallery, Durham Art Guild, and Duke Arts for a panel discussion focussing on portraiture and its role in contemporary art. Local artists Jade Wilson, Zaire McPhearson, Isabel Lu, and Duke Visiting Artist Mario Moore will share insights into their portraiture work and discuss other themes and unique challenges of capturing people in place and time.
